Destin Arts & Inspiration
Florida art comes in many forms.
Visual art, performance art, architecture, folk art and even sandcastle building offer creative culture on the coast.
Performances by the Northwest Florida Ballet, Sinfonia, and a host of professional and amateur theatre troupes and bands also keep our appreciation for culture finely attuned – even with the gorgeous white sandy beach distraction.
Destin area art galleries and museums display the works of prominent local artists. In fact, the number of internationally acclaimed artists, dancers, sculptors, musicians and writers who make their homes here speaks volumes to how friendly we are to the Creative Class.
Art galleries and museums are almost as abundant as the many writers’ retreats, songwriters’ festivals and jazz concerts.
Sand sculptors create art on the beach here almost every day, drawing inspiration from the sea. Many a professional photographer or amateur artist can also be spotted in mid-inspiration as they stare into one of our gorgeous sunsets reflected against the emerald green waters.
The Mattie Kelly Arts Center features a minimum of one Broadway show per season and they sponsor an outdoor summer concert series here in Destin as well. The Center in Niceville is a fantastic source to find musical and theatrical performances almost every single week year round!
Both community theaters and professional repertory can also be found here with troupes such as the Seaside Repertory Theatre in South Walton and Stage Crafters Community Theatre in Fort Walton Beach.
Whether you are looking for the low key jazz ensemble at a local bar or a world-class performance on stage, a folk art masterpiece for your collection or a book written about our area by a local expert, Destin has what you seek!
