Reopening the diner is going to be a difficult task as the building in in need of much repair from sitting unoccupied for so long.
“I’m having to redo pretty much everything; a new roof, new floors and a new kitchen,” said Petit. “I want to refurbish it from the ground up.”
Petit promises to keep the the art deco theme of the restaurant with checkered floors, a long bar and open kitchen. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner that will also seem familiar to those who have dined there before with the exception of diner.
Breakfast and lunch are set to be traditional diner fare while for dinner Petit plans introduce some of his Red Bar menu items like crab cakes and pasta dishes.
