Fishing In Destin
One of our favorite pastimes here at the Sea Oats Motel, the original beachfront retreat on the Emerald Coast, is casting out a line into the bountiful waters that surround our coastal home.
Ushered in with the cooler weather of Fall, besides the blessed low humidity, yay!, guests to the area can expect to find peaceful, uncrowded beaches and attractions, lower off season rates for practically everything, and an abundance of outdoor activities that the whole family can enjoy.
Destin, known as the Luckiest Fishing Village on Earth, is famous for incredible fishing of all kinds – especially unbelievable deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
During the autumn months our pristine coastline comes alive with a plethora of migrating fish species, and combined with the healthy populations of year round sport fish that call our area home, your family is guaranteed to leave the Sea Oats with a couple of fish tales to share with friends and family.Try your hand at night time shark fishing, for an unforgettable thrill, or if fishing isn’t your thing, enjoy the wind in your hair, the fresh sea air and spotting dolphins or other native species like manatees or sea turtles, from the back of the luxury charter while the boys reel in tuna, wahoo, swordfish, mahi-mahi, and even the great blue marlin, among others.
Aside from deep sea fishing, serious anglers visiting the Sea Oats Motel in sunny Destin can also catch plenty of fish from the Pier on Okaloosa Island, or by casting a line directly from the shore, just steps from your rooms. Anglers will also enjoy bay fishing from a kayak or paddleboard, where red fish, mangrove snapper, and cobia can be caught.
Our area also has a great amount of fresh water fishing in and around our blackwater bayous, perfect for those fishermen who enjoy the spirited fight of big mouth bass.
Novice and experienced fishermen alike will be thrilled with the variety of fresh and saltwater fishing options available on the Emerald Coast and Destin. Most professional charter fishing companies will provide a fishing license for their customers. However, visitors can also obtain a short-term fishing license from Wal-Mart, just a minute from the hotel.
