Give Back

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” -Charles Dickens

We’ve always heard that it is better to give than to receive and there is truth to that. Those that give know the pleasure that you can get by giving back to others. Whether it’s a gift of time, money or even a gesture, it seems that the more you give, the more you receive. Call it karma, the law of attraction or whatever else, it’s real.

Try it out! What’s the worst that can happen besides making someone’s day? Show someone close to you that you love them,┬ávolunteer for an organization, give money to a charity, buy a meal for someone that lives on the streets.

If you’re here on vacation, you don’t have to wait to get home to try to give back. If you’re out and about, try to tip your servers, bartenders and drivers generously. You never know the struggles someone goes through, that little bit extra that you give can pick them up and give them a much needed boost.

If your vacation is about to end then why not donate your beach toys, chairs or floats to a thrift store? You won’t have to worry about the extra stuff taking up precious space or blocking your line of sight plus you might’ve given someone the opportunity to have something they might not be able to buy otherwise.

It doesn’t always have to be about money. Give back and show kindness with a gesture as simple as letting someone with fewer items than you ahead in line at the grocery store. If you and another person want the same parking spot, show love and let them have it.

At the very least, you can try greeting someone with a smile. A genuine smile could ignite a spark of kindess in someone that spreads like a wildfire in the lives around that person.

Everything we do has a wide reaching impact in more lives than we realize so shouldn’t we let the aftermath of our presence be one that inspires good deeds and swelling hearts?

Once you start giving back it really allows you to become thankful for the things that are good in your life. You know what we’re thankful for at Sea Oats? You.
