Santa Is Coming To Town

The holiday season in Destin officially kicks into high gear tonight!

While the list of Destin holiday events could fill an old-fashioned phonebook, a few moments each year really offer a taste of the real Destin…

Destin Lights The Christmas Tree!

The City hosted the annual Christmas Tree Lighting November 30th at the Destin Community Center.

As expected of all outdoor family-friendly community events this time of year, there was a visit from the big man in the red suit so kiddos who have not yet presented their list can remedy the situation.

Of course, Santa obliged good girls and boys who bring donations for families who need extra help this year!

Entertainment included Noah’s Ark Bell Choir, Skylar Babin, the Emerald Coast Theatre and the Destin Elementary Choir. Once the tree is twinkling, refreshments will be served.

Christmas Trees and Memories!

Next in the must-see lineup is Destin’s Annual Christmas Parade on December 9th.

“All I want for Christmas.” is the theme for the roaring good time that starts at 10 am at the Downtown Destin Shopping Center (Old Time Pottery). From there, floats proceed west down Harbor Boulevard (a.k.a. Hwy. 98) to Stahlman Avenue.

Stand on the north side of Harbor Boulevard to watch the floats go merrily down the road.

The Destin Boat Parade!

A true highlight of the holiday event season around these parts, the 31st annual Destin Harbor Boat Parade sets sail at 12 pm on December 10th at HarborWalk Village.

Live entertainment, music, arts and crafts, hot chocolate and more are planned. Still in town from the previous day’s parade, Santa Claus is scheduled to appear from 12 to 4 pm.

And, of course, there will be a fireworks display over the harbor. Doesn’t every town celebrate this way?

Chanukah Menorah Lighting

The following weekend, the Festival of Lights celebration will take center stage with special seasonal music, glistening decorations, face-painting and fun crafts for the little ones and a very memorable menorah lighting.

The Chanukah Celebration begins at 5:30 pm on December 14th at HarborWalk Village.
